I'm debating upon starting an annual MNSPL sponsored straight pool tournament in Metro area sometime this late spring or early summer. I'm going to attempt to get sponsors to get money added, but I want your opinions on this. Do you want it handicapped? What would be an appropriate race to number you would want to see (75 on winner's side, 50 on losers, 125 for championship perhaps)? Please give any feedback to me in person or shoot me an email. Thanks.

MN Straight Pool is having a get together this saturday at Two Stooges to go over straight pool rules and basic concepts, espeically since many members have never played before. If you are interested or have questions, please let me know or else just show up.
We'll meet around 12:30 at Two Stooges in Fridley, just ask the counter where the straight pool event is happening. I'm trying to secure some 9 foot tables, so we can shoot in the same area. You are responsible for table time (daily special is $7.50 per person until 6:00pm). I would like to have an estimate about how many tables to reserve.
I'll be going a bit earlier to shoot a game or two and will bring several copies of SP rules. Let me know in advance (by Wednesday) if you would like a copy of the rules, otherwise you can print them out on the BCA website (http://www.bca-pool.com/play/tournaments/rules/rls_141.shtml)
I am NOT a pool instructor (it will be obvious when you see me miss shots, play horrible shape, use body english, or say the infamous "this is probably a bad idea but..."). Myself or someone else around can probably answer any questions as far as rules, concepts, basic strategies in straight pool. The idea of this league is to meet other straight pool players, and bring back this game to the Twin Cities so I believe this will be a good starting point, and give a chance to meet your future opponents.
I look forward to meeting you, and if I don't see you this weekend, I'll see you Oct. 13th when the league begins.
Thanks,
-Matt Lind

No events are currently scheduled. If you feel like a game of straight pool,
head on over to Two Stooges on a Saturday afternoon or Jimmy's on a Friday night.
More than likely, you'll find one. Feel free to contact me, I'm always up
for a game.
